## **The paradox of "A Course in Miracles"**

You know? There's something fascinating and a little puzzling about "A Course in Miracles." It's a paradox that many who study it have experienced: that feeling that what you read resonates deeply with you, as if it's a truth you've always known but forgotten. And at the same time, that same truth seems to defy everything you believed until now.

It's like a tug-of-war between what we feel to be true and what our conscious thought tells us can't be. It's such a human phenomenon... because, deep down, we are connecting with something beyond what we think we are.

### **Helen Schucman and the contradiction of learning**

Helen Schucman , who wrote the Course, experienced this firsthand. He said that the Course was "his life's work" and, at the same time, confessed that he did not believe in it. Imagine how contradictory it must have felt! But that tension isn't a bad thing, you know? It's part of the process of learning to see things from a new perspective.

## **The mind and its ability to choose**

The Course tells us about the different parts of our mind:

- On the one hand, there is what he calls the "right mind," that part of us that knows who we really are, far beyond what we define here.
- On the other hand, there is the " wrong mind ", which believes that we are separate, that defines us by our stories, our fears, by the world we see.
- And in the middle of these two is "the Decision Maker ", that part that has the power to choose what we want to hear.

When we experience what we might call "resonance," what happens is that our righteous mind manages to make itself heard. It is a moment of recognition, of knowing something without fully understanding it. A sense of peace that goes beyond words. As the Course says: "Peace is the motivation to learn this course."

## **The Role of Forgiveness in Transformation**

But of course, that peace too It comes with resistance . And it is coincidence. In fact, it is part of the process. Because who doesn't resist when something questions the foundations of what we have always believed?

The ego, that voice in our mind that insists on separation, feels threatened. He clings to us, whispers to us that it is dangerous to let go, that if we accept true love, we will disappear. But that resistance is not the enemy. It is an opportunity. An invitation to look at our deepest beliefs and let go of what longer serves us.

The Course has a key tool to help us with this: forgiveness. But it is not the forgiveness that we usually understand, it is not about "forgiving another" as if we were superior.

**It's something much more liberating:** understand that what you thought was done to you, in reality, never happened. Sounds radical? Maybe. But it is also profoundly liberating. Because by forgiving, you free yourself. It's like dropping a weight you didn't even know you were carrying.

## **The Experience of Loving Presence**

And here comes something beautiful. Many students of the Course feel, at some point, a loving presence. Jesus, as presented by the Course, is not a historical or religious figure. It is a symbol of pure love, of that truth that we all share. And the wonderful thing is that it doesn't matter if you believed in him before or not. It is not a question of religion; it is a matter of feeling, of experiencing.

Another interesting idea that the Course mentions is that truth is not learned in a linear way, as a subject you study.

It's more like something you remember.

Like I've always been there, waiting for you to notice. And when you do, even for an instant, something in you changes.

## **The Challenge of Spiritual Awakening**

But of course, fear also appears. Because if the truth sets us free, why does it sometimes scare us so much? Perhaps because leaving our old ideas behind can feel like losing a part of ourselves. But this is not the case.

It's just the ego trying to protect its identity. Because he knows that, when we let go, we find something much bigger.

The Course has a unique way of dealing with this. It does not force us, it does not push us. Rather, it invites us with love, even when it provokes resistance. It is as if he were saying to us:

**"Look, here's the truth. I know it's hard for you, but I'm with you. Let's go step by step."**

And on that path, many experience moments of light, of expansion, of a peace that seems to come from another place. But even those experiences are just symbols, signs of something deeper that can't be described, just lived.

## **Embrace the paradox**

Time also plays a curious role here. The Course tells us that everything that seems new is actually a memory. That those moments of resonance are like flashes of eternity, instants in which we touch something that has always been with us.

In the end, all of this leads us to embrace that paradox of awakening: feeling deeply connected and, at the same time, resisting it. And that's okay. It's part of the journey.

Because this course does not ask us much, almost nothing. But what it offers us, if we are willing, is everything.

It invites us to see ourselves in a whole new way, with compassion, with love, recognizing that we are so much more than we thought. It is a challenging path, yes. But also full of promises of peace and freedom that go beyond what we ever imagined.
